Tomb Explorer
The goal of this project is to create a game in which the player can navigate between multiple levels via a central hub, while creating various connections between them.
Role: Game and Level Designer
Year: 2022
Duration: 1 week
Software Used: Photoshop, Unity

Story
Your character sets out to discover several tombs hidden throughout the world. To do this, they use tombstones located in a huge tower that serves as their base; these stones send them to the tomb from which they came.
Gameplay
The game has a simple controller: the character can run, jump, climb and descend ladders, and open chests. In each level, the player must advance, discovering secrets and avoiding potential dangers along the way. I focused on level design in this project.

Research
So, first, I did some visual and architectural research for the various temples. The player should have a real sense of traveling the world. I also created visual concepts and plans that I would like to include in the levels. This also gives me an idea of the scale of the levels.
Link between levels
Set in the same world, and to enhance the player's immersion, it will be possible to briefly glimpse other levels from the one the player is in. This is also the stage where I had my different level ideas to explore.

Paper version
Each level will have a different theme and way of traversing it. For example, the dam level is simply a straight line, but obstacles slow down the player's progress. As for the mountain level, the player will only ascend, a global view of the level will be present from the beginning so that the player can imagine the climb they are about to make.
Blocking
For the blocking, the idea was to make the player feel certain emotions. For the hub, I made it larger than necessary, so that the player feels a kind of vertigo: they are only exploring a small part of a much larger world. For the dam, only a rich and powerful city could build such a structure; there are many decorations and the colors are yellow and gold. For the mountains, the goal was to show that the people behind this temple managed to tame a hostile environment, which overlooks all the other levels. It is therefore a people who respected nature.
